Recently, the Government of Assam has made a major change in school education by merging SEBA and AHSEC (Secondary Education Board of Assam and Assam Higher Secondary Education Council). The main motive behind this merging is to form a common Education Board for smooth functionality and better results.
- The new unified education board known as “Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB)” will be aligned with the new Education Policy 2020.
- The Board consists of 21 members and RC Jains became the first Chairperson of ASSEB. Mr. Rukma Gohain Baruah also takes oath as the Vice Chairperson of the Board.
- The Board will conduct both HSLC and HS Final Examinations.
The New Education Policy, 2020 is founded on the five guiding pillars of Access, Equity, Quality, Affordability and Accountability. It will prepare our new generations to meet the diverse national and global challenges of the present and future.
The Government of Assam’s initial initiative to merge SEBA and AHSEC and the formation of a unified Education Board ASSEB is the implementation of the New Education Policy, 2020. We hope the policy will bring a long lasting positive impact on the education system and make India a global hub of skilled manpower.
